Do You Need a Guide for Fixing a Bicycle Puncture?

What happens if you are on your way and your bicycle stops? The very well known reason is definitely a puncture. It becomes very disappointing to sit with a pump and a patch kit waiting for someone to fix your bicycle puncture but if you have correct guidance fixing a bicycle puncture is not at all a big deal.

Basic instruments for fixing a puncture

What you require while fixing a bicycle puncture is basic instruments such as:

(1) Tyre levers which are used in removing tyre from the rim and are normally available in set of three. Plastic tyre lever do a great job.

(2) A puncture repair kit which contains various patches of different sizes, a glue and sandpaper. These repair kits are reasonable and are normally pocket sized.

(3) A pump is really important but should be of good quality so that it does not fail when you need it. These pumps are very easy to install on your bicycle.

(4) An extra inner tube and spanner are also helpful.

How you can fix the bicycle puncture

WJust by following few steps you are always ready to move without stopping.

(1) Firstly, if you think that your bicycle has punctured and you are losing your control over the bicycle, take it away from the traffic to the road side.

(2) Secondly, you need to remove the wheel by removing the nuts using tyre lever and let the complete air come out of the tyre by depressing the valve pin.

(3) Thirdly, check the point from which the tyre is leaking and for this you can make use of hand pump. But if you are not able to get the point dip the tire tube in a bucket full of water and the point from which the bubbles come out is the leakage point.

(4) Fourthly, once you have come to know about the leakage point, you need to cover the hole using patch and glue. Before covering the hole, coarsen the surface of the tube using sand paper and apply glue to the area equal to the size of the patch and leave the glue for few seconds.

(5) Fifthly, after the glue has dried up, cover the leakage point with the patch and put some sandpaper on the tube so that it does not stick to the tyre.

(6) Finally, put the valve back to the tyre and now the tyre is ready to be replaced at its position using nuts and you are ready to move on your way.

Though there are several mechanics that that fix your bicycle puncture in few minutes but it is not necessary that you may find them at the place of puncture, so you should be always ready with your repair kit so that you don't have to stop in your way. You can avoid this situation of bicycle puncture by purchasing tubeless tyres for your bicycle. These tubeless tyres surely do a great job.
