Buying Motorcycle tyres
Tyres are one of the most significant parts of a motorcycle. Not only they are subjected to a huge degree of wear and tear but their durability also depends upon how well you maintain them. The quality of your motorcycle tyres is responsible for determining how fast your bike can go and how it will drive. There are different types and models of tyres available in the market and it is up to you as an owner to decide what type of tyres you are going to buy.
Choosing a motorcycle tyre
While choosing motorcycle tyres, you should first determine what you expect most from your tyres: mileage or traction. Sifter tyres of rubber provide more traction but may not be very durable. On the contrary, firmer compound tyres of rubber give more mileage and are more durable but not that much traction. The age of your motorcycle tyres is quite important while determining when to purchase a new tyre set. As the time passes, the rubber becomes harder and leads to elimination of traction of your tyre. Therefore, even if you have not driven your motorcycle for the last 5 years, you will have to toss away the old tyres and purchase new ones. If you want to get most out of the motorcycle, it is wise to always buy fresh tyres. If you expect your tyres to last long then keeping in mind the age of your tyres is very important. The key point is that tyres which are more than 6-7 years old are just useless, even if they are not used. So, it is extremely important to check the manufacturing date of the motorcycle tyre while purchasing it.
Air Pressure
The motorcycle's air pressure is also very significant for the maintenance of a tire. Air pressure needs to be less while raining and more in dry atmosphere. Generally, air pressure is different from tyre to tyre and from motorcycle to motorcycle. So, it is good to consult other people and ask the manufacturers to get actual pressure needed for the motorcycle tyres.
Where to buy tyres from
Tyres are one of the most significant parts of a bike and investing in them should not be taken calmly. Buying a cheap tyre is not advisable because tyres are subject to a lot of abrasion and the durability of the tyres depends upon their condition and maintenance. If you are intending to buy motorcycle tyres at affordable rates, the most trusted source of information is the dealer from where you have purchased your motorcycle. They will not aim at gaining from your purchase and therefore their advice will be impartial and unbiased. Apart from that, they are experienced in the market and know which tyres are best for their bike. There are also other sources of information such as magazine reviews and websites that suggest which tyres are best and are worth investing.
You can also look at tyres being purchased by other bikers. Most widely used tyres are best in the market. Also give consideration to a tyre that is recommended by your user's manual. While buying a motorcycle tyre, check its wet grip ability, performance level, capacity to carry load and the amount of tread left with it. If you find that anything of these are not up to the standard, then it is advisable not to purchase such a tyre.
